Die hohe lyrische Sopranistin Heather Phillips, deren Vorstellungen von Opera News als „wunderschön“ und „schimmernd“ beschrieben wurden, hat mehr als 20 Opernrollen in Nordamerika und Europa gesungen und sich dabei auf das italienische Belcanto-Repertoire sowie auf das Repertoire von W.A. Mozart und Richard Strauss spezialisiert. 2022 gab Heather Phillips ihr professionelles Europadebüt an der Oper Frankfurt in der Titelrolle von Rossinis Bianca e Falliero, worüber die Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung schrieb „Der Sopranistin Heather Phillips gelingt ein famoses Debüt.” Bei ihrem Österreich-Debüt anlässlich der Tiroler Festspiele Erl wurde sie wieder als Bianca e Falliero besetzt und wurde hierfür abermals überaus positiv von der Presse rezensiert. Auf der Konzertbühne in Österreich war sie mit dem Orchester der Tiroler Festspiele für ein Galakonzert mit der Musik des Belcanto-Repertoires von Bellini, Rossini und Donizetti zu erleben.
In der Saison 2023-24 debütiert Heather Phillips in der Rolle der Adina in L’elisir d’amore mit dem Charleston Opera Theatre, tritt in Konzerten mit dem Princeton Pro Musica, dem
Dayton Symphony Orchestra und dem Las Vegas Symphony Orchestra auf und wird in einem Liederabend mit einem Programm zu Ehren des hundertsten Geburtstag von Maria Callas, an der Dayton Opera zu hören sein. Mit ihrem Hausdebüt am Staatstheater Nürnberg wird die Sopranistin erneut als Donna Anna in einer neuen Produktion von Mozarts Don Giovanni zu erleben sein.
Ihre weiteren Opern- und Konzertauftritte umfassen das Repertoire vom 18. bis zum 21. Jahrhundert in Aufführungen mit dem New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center, der Santa Fe
Opera, der San Francisco Opera, der Opera Philadelphia, dem Ravinia Festival, der Arizona Opera, der Opera Naples, der Austin Lyric Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Cincinnati Opera, New Orleans Opera Association, Kentucky Opera, Crested Butte Music Festival, Austin Symphony Orchestra, The Oregon Music Festival, True Concord Orchestra & Chorus, The Canton Symphony Orchestra, The Boise Philharmonic, The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra und andere. Heather Phillips gab Liederabende beim Tucson Desert Song Festival, an der Dayton Opera, Chamber Performance Santa Fe, der Columbus Opera, dem McDowell Music Club und an der Northern Kentucky University.
An der Santa Fe Opera interpretierte die Künstlerin die Rolle der Katie in Jennifer Higdons Cold Mountain und ist auf der für einen Grammy© nominierten Originalaufnahme, aufgenommen mit dem Pentatone Recording Label, zu hören.
Als Absolventin des „Santa Fe Opera apprentice program“ wurde sie außerdem am Aspen Opera Institute und am Ravinia Steans Institute ausgebildet und erhielt sowohl ihren Master- als auch ihren Bachelor-Abschluss an der University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. Sie studierte Deutsch am Institut für Sprachvermittlung in Bonn und Italienisch beim Lucca Festival in Italien.
Die Künstlerin wurde mit zahlreichen Preisen geehrt, darunter höchste Auszeichnungen beim Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition, der Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation und dem Giulio Gari International Vocal Competition. Außerdem erhielt sie einen der Preise für ihre herausragenden Leistungen während ihrer Ausbildung an der Santa Fe Opera und nahm an den Auditions des Metropolitan Opera National Council teil, wo sie in den Bezirks- und Regionalausscheidungen Preise gewann. Darüber hinaus erhielt sie Preise von der George London Foundation, Kurt Weill Foundation, Marcello Giordani Foundation, Irma M. Sie debütierte in der Weill Recital Hall der Carnegie Hall als Finalistin der Nico Castel Master Singer Competition und wurde im selben Jahr ausgewählt, die Vereinigten Staaten als Finalistin
der Queen Sonja International Vocal Competition in Oslo, Norwegen, zu vertreten.
Neben ihrer Karriere als Sängerin hat Frau Phillips auch als Kunstpädagogin gearbeitet. Außerhalb ihres privaten Unterrichtsstudios war sie unter anderem als Mentorin, Dozentin und
Dozentin von Meisterklassen bei den Tiroler Festspielen Erl (Österreich), dem Aspen Music Festival (High School Division), der Women’s Artistic Leadership Initiative (ALI), ArtSmart Philadelphia, dem College of Charleston und der Texas State University tätig.

Recently, Ms. Phillips made her professional European debut in 2022 at Oper Frankfurt in Germany as the title role in Rossini’s Bianca e Falliero in which the Frankfurter Allgemeiner Zeitung noted, „Der Sopranistin Heather Phillips gelingt ein famoses Debüt.” Ms. Phillips reprised her role in Bianca e Falliero for her Austrian debut at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl, also to critical acclaim. She also appeared in Austria on the concert stage with the Tiroler Festspiele Orchestra for a gala concert featuring the music of the Bel Canto repertoire of Bellini, Rossini & Donizetti. In 2023-2024 season, Ms. Phillips debuts the role of Adina in L’elisir d’amore with the Charleston Opera Theatre, appears in concert with the Princeton Pro Musica, the Dayton Symphony Orchestra & the Las Vegas Symphony Orchestra and will be heard in recital with the Dayton Opera, in a program celebrating the centennial of Maria Callas. Ms. Phillips will also return to the role of Donna Anna in a new production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, for her house debut with Staatstheater Nürnberg.
Ms. Phillips’ further operatic & concert appearances have included repertoire spanning from the 18th to the 21st century in performances with the New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center, The Santa Fe Opera, San Francisco Opera, Opera Philadelphia, Ravinia Festival, Arizona Opera, Opera Naples, Austin Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Cincinnati Opera, New Orleans Opera Association, Kentucky Opera, Crested Butte Music Festival, Austin Symphony Orchestra, The Oregon Music Festival,True Concord Orchestra & Chorus, The Canton Symphony Orchestra, The Boise Philharmonic, The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, among others. She has been a guest recitalist at The Tucson Desert Song Festival, Dayton Opera, Chamber Performance Santa Fe, Columbus Opera, The McDowell Music Club & Northern Kentucky University. Ms. Phillips can also be heard on the Grammy nominated original cast recording in the role of Katie in Jennifer Higdon’s Cold Mountain, a role she created at the Santa Fe Opera that was recorded with the Pentatone Recording Label.
An alumna of the Santa Fe Opera apprentice program, Ms. Phillips also trained at The Aspen Opera Institute, The Ravinia Steans Institute and received both her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. She studied German at the Institut für Sprachvermittlung in Bonn & Italian at The Lucca Festival in Italy.
Ms. Phillips has received many awards including top honors from Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition, the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation and the Giulio Gari International Vocal Competition. She is also the recipient of one of the Santa Fe Opera’s outstanding apprentice singer awards and advanced in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, winning prizes at the district and regional finals. She also received awards from the George London Foundation, Kurt Weill Foundation’s Lotte Lenya Competition, Marcello Giordani Foundation, Irma M. Cooper Vocal Competition, Schuyler Foundation Competition for Career Bridges, National Opera Association Vocal Competition, Orpheus Vocal Competition, Violetta Dupont Vocal Competition, and the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust. She made her Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall debut as a finalist in the Nico Castel Master Singer Competition and in the same year was selected to represent the United States as a finalist in the Queen Sonja International Vocal Competition in Oslo, Norway.
Alongside her performance career, Ms. Phillips has worked as an arts educator. Outside of her private teaching studio, her engagements have included mentoring, teaching and masterclasses at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl Austria, Aspen Music Festival (high school division), Women’s Artistic Leadership Initiative (ALI), ArtSmart Philadelphia, College of Charleston and Texas State University.
