Biografie
Die junge Sopranistin Sarah Chae erhielt ihre musikalische Ausbildung an der Hochschule für Musik Saar bei Prof. Yaron Windmüller. 19/20 absolvierte sie ein Erasmusstudium „Master of Music“ im Conservatorio di Musica Luigi Cherubini Florenz. 2023 legte sie ihr Konzertexamen Gesang an der Hochschule für Musik Saar ab. Ergänzend besuchte Sarah Chae Meisterkurse bei Deborah Polaski, Mariella Devia, Sonia Franzese, Alexander Corbelli, Vesselina Kasarova und Nikolai Handjiev.
Als erfolgreiche Teilnehmerin von Wettbewerben gewann sie u.a. den „The Anonymous Audition Project NYIOP”. Sie ist Stipendiatin der Richard-Wagner-Stipendienstiftung. 2023 gewann sie den Sonderpreis der „16th International Vocal Competition GABRIELA BEŇAČKOVÁ“ in der Tschechischen Republik.
Als Studentin debütierte die junge Sängerin als Füchslein in Das schlaue Füchslein. In Hochschulproduktionen war sie als Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia und als Musetta in La Bohème zu hören. 2019 sang sie am Saarländischen Staatstheater die Titelpartie von Coreline von Turnage. Ein Engagement als Amore in L’incoronazione di Poppea am Theater Trier 2021 konnte wegen der Pandemie nicht realisiert werden.
22/23 wurde sie in das Young Artist’Programme im National Opera Studio London aufgenommen. Im National Opera Studio London wurde sie als Iris in Semele besetzt und interpretierte in WNO Produktionen in Wales die Norina in Don Pasquale und Nanetta in Falstaff. An der Scottish Opera sang sie Mademoiselle Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor und die Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos. Nach dem Studio gastierte Sarah Chae beim Bampton Classical Opera Festival als Calloandra in der britischen Erstaufführung von Salieris La fiera di Venezia und coverte die Violetta in La Traviata an der Oxford Opera. 2024 debütierte sie erfolgreich in der Titelpartie von Santanella am Erzgebirgischen Theater und wurde hier auch als Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte besetzt. 2025 sang sie erstmals beim Immling Festival und präsentierte sich als Frasquita in Carmen.
Konzerte u.a. als Sopran in F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdys Lobgesang und in Bachs Matthäus-Passion in der Stiftskirche St. Annual ergänzen ihr künstlerisches Portfolio.

South Korean soprano Sarah Chae has performed in a diverse range of traditional and contemporary repertoires. Recent engagements include her 2025 role as Frasquita in Carmen at Immling Festival, 2024 roles as Lesbia in Bampton Classical Opera’s L’isola d’Alcina and Satanella in Balfe’s Satanella at the Erzgebirgische Theater in Germany, where she also made her debut as Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute. In 2023, she was Calloandra in the UK premiere of Salieri’s La fiera di Venezia with Bampton Classical Opera and covered Violetta in La Traviata with Oxford Opera.
Elsewhere, she appeared previously as Vixen in The Cunning Little Vixen, Coraline in Turnage’s Coraline at Staatstheater Saarbrücken, Musetta in La Bohème and Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia at Hochschule für Musik Saar.
As a Young Artist with the National Opera Studio (NOS) in London, Sarah was casted by Welsh National Opera for scenes from Handel’s Semele as Iris, Norina in Don Pasquale, Nanetta in Falstaff and Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi. In partnership with Scottish Opera and NOS, Sarah sang Mademoiselle Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor and Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos.
Sarah has received multiple awards, including the Richard Wagner Scholarship (Bayreuth, 2019), a special award at Stara Zagora State Opera (2019), 3rd prize at the III European Competition in Torino, Italy (2021), and a special prize at the 16th International Vocal Competition Gabriela Beňačková in Jihlava, Czech Republic (2023).
She completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2018, her Master’s degree in 2020, and her Konzertexamen in 2023 at Hochschule für Musik Saar in Germany. She also studied with Professor Donatella Debolini at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatorio in Florence, Italy, from 2019 to 2020 as part of the Erasmus programme. She completed her studies with masterclasses with Deborah Polaski, Mariella Devia, Sonia Franzese, Alexander Corbelli, Vesselina Kasarova and Nikolai Handjiev.
